This Privacy Policy explains how the Job Analyzer Chrome extension and its related backend service (jobsway.me) collect, use, and protect your information. It is designed to meet the Chrome Web Store requirements and to provide clear, transparent information for users.

Quick Summary

The extension only processes job-related text that you explicitly choose to analyze. This content is securely sent to our server to provide AI-powered suggestions (e.g., resume tips, cover letters). Payment information (if you purchase a subscription) is handled directly by Stripe — we never store your credit card details.

Information We Collect and Why

  1. Job Ad Text (Content You Submit)

    • What: The text of job ads or portions of the page you choose to analyze.

    • Why: To generate personalized insights, resume tips, and AI-powered suggestions.

    • How: Securely transmitted to our API endpoint (https://jobsway.me/wp-json/job-analyzer/v1/analyze-job-ad).

  2. Page URL and Metadata

    • What: The URL and page title where the content comes from.

    • Why: To show the source in the extension interface and prevent invalid requests.

  3. Authentication Tokens & User Identifiers

    • What: An API token created when you connect your account. Stored locally in Chrome (chrome.storage) and in your WordPress-based account on our server.

    • Why: To authenticate requests and associate them with your account. Tokens can be revoked.

  4. Diagnostic & Log Data

    • What: Request timestamps, error logs, and IP addresses (server-side).

    • Why: For troubleshooting, monitoring, and security. Logs are kept temporarily.

  5. Payments & Billing Information

    • What: We do not store or process credit card numbers. Payments are processed securely through Stripe. We only keep non-sensitive details such as transaction ID, subscription plan, and purchase date.

    • Why: To manage subscriptions, invoices, and customer support.

  6. Extension Permissions
    The extension requests the following permissions, each required for functionality:

    • activeTab — Reads the current tab only when you activate the extension.

    • tabs — Reads URL/title for reference in reports.

    • scripting — Injects scripts into pages to extract or highlight job text.

    • storage — Saves tokens, preferences, and local history securely.

    • host_permissions:

      • https://jobsway.me/* for authentication and server communication.

      • "<all_urls>" to allow analysis of job ads on any site — data is only sent when you explicitly trigger analysis, never automatically.

How Your Data Is Used

  • Submitted job text is analyzed by our AI models to generate insights (resume tips, summaries, cover letters).

  • Results are sent back to your extension and may be cached locally for faster access.

  • Raw job text may be stored temporarily (up to 30 days) for debugging and quality improvement.

Third-Party Services

  • Stripe (Payments): Handles payment processing. We never see or store credit card numbers. Stripe is PCI-compliant.

  • Google OAuth (Optional Login): If you log in with Google, we may receive your basic profile info (email, name) to set up your account.

  • Libraries: Standard PHP/WordPress libraries and Stripe SDK are used.

Security Measures

  • Encryption: All traffic between the extension and our servers is protected via HTTPS.

  • Token Storage: API tokens are securely stored in Chrome’s local storage and on our server. They can be revoked anytime.

  • Server Security: Servers use firewalls, access restrictions, and regular security updates.

  • Minimal Data Processing: We only keep what is strictly necessary.

Data Retention

  • Job Ad Text: Up to 30 days (unless you request deletion).

  • Server Logs: Up to 90 days.

  • Payment/Subscription Records: As required by accounting/tax law (usually 5 years).

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access & Export: Request a copy of your data.

  • Delete (Right to be Forgotten): Request permanent deletion of your data.

  • Revoke Tokens: Disconnect the extension from your account anytime.

  • Opt-out of Processing: Object to specific uses (e.g., excluding your data from model training).

How to Delete Your Data

  1. In the extension, go to Settings → Disconnect to remove your local token.

  2. To permanently delete your server-side data, email support@jobsway.me with subject Request: Delete My Data.

Risks & Limitations

  • The extension requires permission to read web pages in order to function. It only sends data when you explicitly choose to analyze a job ad.

  • Stripe and Google may collect additional information under their own privacy policies.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Major changes will be notified via email or in-extension notice. The version and effective date will always be shown at the top of this page.
